It depends on the age of your kid. If you’ve got young kids who are still needy go a few years old at least and skip the Being a dad is an honor being a papa is priceless shirt. You don’t want something to old either though because older dogs don’t usually play as much and like quiet so they really wouldn’t be a good match for a home with loud energetic kids. I’ve got three dogs under the age of 6. It sounded like a good idea at the time but it’s overwhelming with a two-year-old. Had I known I would’ve waited until after my kids were old enough to help out. It depends on the age of your kids and the age of the dog. Not all older dogs will tolerate young children.
